Instructional design as defined in the 2018 ACOTE standards is the assessment of the learning materials and methods that are aligned with the curriculum and convey content to meet the needs of the student. Across all preparation levels, programs are being asked to demonstrate how the instructional design ensures appropriate content delivery reflective of the curriculum (2018 ACOTE Standard A.6.5.). However, the concept of instructional design has never been formally introduced in previous ACOTE standards. This course is designed to clarify the intent behind instructional design and relationship to content delivery as it pertains to the curriculum framework.

Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to describe the basic components of instructional design.

2. Participants will be able to articulate the relationship between instructional design and content delivery.

3. Participants will be able to reflect on instructional design methods an effectiveness of meeting learning objectives based on provided examples.
