After an extensive 2-year process, including multiple surveys to the communities of interest and several open hearings, the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®) has adopted new accreditation standards for doctoral-degree-level occupational therapy programs, master’s-degree-level occupational therapy programs, baccalaureate-degree-level occupational therapy assistant programs, and associate-degree-level occupational therapy assistant programs. The new Standards are available on the ACOTE Resource section of the ACOTE website. Programs will be required to comply with the new 2023 Standards by July 31, 2025.
At AOTA INSPIRE 2024 in Orlando, Florida, ACOTE will host the following program information sessions on the 2023 ACOTE® Standards:
- Friday, March 22, 2024: 1:00-2:30 pm – OTA-B and OTA-A Degree Level Programs
- Friday, March 22, 2024: 3:00-4:30 pm – OTD and OTM Degree Level Programs

In fall 2024 and spring 2025, ACOTE will provide webinars for interested faculty. The webinars will focus on the changes in the new Standards.
